The Ford Transit Connect was designed for commercial deliveries in European cities. The result was a nimble compact van with a surprising load rating and great visibility. Sold in the USA as either a cargo or wagon version, it makes a handy base for a freeway flyer aimed at weekend adventures or daily shuttle duty.
The van is only available in front wheel drive, and does not have a lot of clearance - fine for graded gravel, but consider our Jeep or Bronco campers if you need more capability for rough roads.
The wagon version seats up to 7, and many customers remove the 3rd row for increased cargo space, but this is not required.
The cargo version is certified for only 2. We are unable to legally install extra seats for passenger transport in the cargo version.
This pop top conversion for the Ford Transit Connect is based on:
2014 - 2023 Model Years (2nd Generation)
Long Wheel Base (LWB) version only
Trim Levels XL, XLT and Titanium
Stock roof line only. The Titanium and XLT trims offered a Panoramic Fixed-Glass Vista Roof (moonroof) as an option. We are not able to convert vans with this option due to structural differences.
Rear lift gate or twin side swing rear door models
Details
The base price for the conversion includes installing the camper, the mattresses, LED lighting in the tent and adding the inside rear release for rear lift gate models.
Optional upgrades for additional cost include
Cosmetic options: such as painting the top to match or contrast the vehicle body color
Utility options: adding rack mounts, rack systems or mounting points
Convenience options: adding USB and 12V outlets in the sleeping loft and rear load area
NOTE: Ford discontinued the Transit Connect in 2023. An all new 3rd generation Transit Connect continues to be offered in Europe, it will not be available in North America.
Ursa Minor continues to convert used Transit Connects (we are still converting Elements too) but they are no longer available direct from Ford dealers.
